Specialty Crankcase Additives

Nelson Brothers manufactures additives for engine oils that are standard for this industry. However, in addition to these standard offerings Nelson Brothers also has the capability to produce customized additives that allow our customers to differentiate the performance of their product offering.

We accomplish this by focusing on key chemistry building blocks. This starts with polyisobutylene succinic anhydride (PIBSA). Nelson Brothers routinely uses a wide variety of molecular weights of polyisobutylene (PIB) both highly reactive and conventional grades. As a consequence, Nelson Brothers offers one of the widest ranges of PIBSA’s available on the market.

Nelson Brothers also produces polyisobutylene succinimide (PIBSI) based dispersants that are used in engine oil formulations. These specialty engine oil additives or crankcase additives keep the engine crankcase clean by dispersing harmful debris generated during operation that can thicken oil, cause wear and plug the oil filter.
